Yesterday i received a message from my dream college, shattering the very dream that i have lived with from my high school. I felt really broken at that moment and after reading the reason why they had rejected me, the feeling only got more painful. They rejected because they found my SOP “not very compelling”. i had got 41 IB predicted with math, eco and physics hl -7. i have already received offers from kings and Warwick at 35 and 38 respectively. So my SOP cant have been that bad, but after consolidating myself i realized that rejections are a regular part of life and we should continue what so ever. Even my friend got rejected and was provided with the same reason,
Can everyone (Who got their decisions from LSE) plz share there decisions from LSE and the ones who are accepted could they also post the predicted grades they were admitted with. Thank You
What subject did you apply to read? LSE is much more competitive in many fields than Warwick and Kings and also has a huge number of American applicants, so they tend to focus on other things. At my school, the students who were accepted had done interesting (and relevant) internships and demonstrated interest in their subject that went beyond the courses they were taking. I’d not focus on your predicted grades since they told you that wasn’t the issue.
LSE is extremely selective in comparison to other universities especially for economics. Given the fact that it is a small to mid sized school you get a lot of applicants for very few places. Internationals probably have a tougher time getting in, I’d say the admit rate would be 7%-8%, hell you may have a better chance at Oxbridge than LSE for economics!!
Now if you applied for anything else other than economics and Law then I’d be surprised by the rejection. LSE is a major feeder school to top MBA programs in the United States and top Magic circle/Silver circle law firms(Allen & Overy, Slaughter and May etc…) aswell a U.S. law firms in London which are amongst the best and largest in the world. Outside both these majors I don’t see much competition, that’s why clarifying your major can help here.
Did you apply for Economics? This year in the Complete University Guide, Warwick is ranked #2 for Economics (LSE is #4). Warwick is a great school and a major feeder for JP Morgan and other I-banks. Cheer up!
Guys thanks for the responses, btw I got in the university of Bath as well!!!
And yes, I applied for Economics major…
Maybe I will try for LSE in my post grad after strengthing my application more.
I am still waiting for UCL and hope i will get an from them, as it was my second choice…its good to know that warwick is so renowned and has such great job opportunities, i definitely consider it as a major component of my potential colleges…
