If you go to LSP, during your freshman year, can you or can you not take courses that contribute to your major/courses that are not part of the LSP core curriculum in addition?

I know this has been addressed before. However, even NYU is unclear at times as to whether you have to wait until your second year in LSP to take non-core courses or not. I just want a concise (FACT-BASED!) answer.

YES. You can take CAS/Steinhardt/whatever classes during your freshman year, but you will have to take a few LSP classes to fulfill requirements.

Yes, freshmen year in lsp is pretty restricting, but you can still take non-lsp courses. Freshmen year you have to take writing I/II, cultural foundations I/II, and social foundations I/II. that leaves you with 2 electives (1 per semester) for whatever you want.

Btw, you don’t have to spend two years in the program. I finished in one year (not sure if this is still possible) and plenty of students do only 3 semesters - my advice is don’t bother doing the “extra” lsp courses; simply do the required ones and transfer out.

Thanks a lot for the answers. I got into Fordham RH recently and just want to figure out where I stand on LSP if that’s the verdict from NYU come April.
