xxlizzz, some people I know got into GSP but chose to go to other schools. You are essentially paying 50,000 a year for an associate's degree...something you can get at a community college for a ton less.

Not to bash the LSP program but it is such a blatant moneymaking tool for NYU. They essentially want to fill up its dorms (thus the reason some are only accepted on the basis they study their first year in a campus abroad), while they do not include them in CAS until 2 years' time.

Obviously some people think it's worth it, but again I knew many who decided to forgo the huge 50,000 pricetag and go to their state school, where they are doing really well and plan on transferring to NYU the next year. They essentially want to follow the route of LSP without paying the price of a LSP student.

I will say for myself, though, if I did not get into CAS and got placed into LSP, there would be no way I would take it. True, the LSP courses take place of the MAP (idk if it's all). Personally speaking if I'm paying 50000 a year I want to take the most challenging courses out there that will teach me the most. My LSP friends have mixed reviews about their classes, some of them are ridiculously easy while others they found interesting and worth their time.

all those nervous about lsp.....my sis was in it as I said before and she tells me that the classes are just as challanging as CAS if not the same. She says the LSP was the best part of her NYU experience because it allowed her to have smaller classes and create better friendships. So don't think that you feel unappreciated because your in those classes, because my sister said she learned a lot from the teachers and the friends she made in it. She is also on the deans list now for CAS, so it was worth being in LSP. Hope this helps!

SRC180 ... did your sister really enjoy it? I've heard of many who say it isn't worth it.. or I shouldn't because it's a waste of time. But I know I want to be at NYU. And I guess I wouldn't minddd getting done with most of my Liberal Arts classes so I can focus more on my major the last two years. Any other info. about her experience you can share?

yeah, my brother is in cas but he knows a lot of lsp-ers, and it's really a some like it, some don't type of thing. im thinking though if one really wants to be at nyu in the city badly enough, then definitely go for it..i know i would.

my sister did really enjoy it. She was not super happy when she got into LSP at NYU. But she learned to love it and really did well there. She had much better offers from other schools, but you cant beat New York. Its not a waste of your money at all, you get the exact same experience as if you were directly accepted into the school you want to within NYU
