I sent my midyear grades to LSU a while ago (about 3 weeks) and I got no response. I applied in late December (shortly after Christmas) and I was wondering why I haven’t gotten a response. If this is any help I have a 3.3 (weighted) GPA, and a 1100 SAT score. I’ve been told that they do applications holistically, so that might be why it’s taking so long…I don’t really know what’s going on though.
I do believe the change to holistic review is why it’s taking so long. Do you have a long list of extracurriculars? This could be a reason for the long wait if they’re reviewing all parts of your application. Also, just to clarify; did LSU ask for your midyear grades 3 weeks ago or did you choose to send them yourself? If it was unprompted that may also be a reason that they didn’t respond yet.
Basically, a prompt came up in my portal to send Midyear Grades and then in parentheses it said "optional. I sent them anyway, but I haven’t gotten a response. I might call this afternoon since this school is one of my top schools.
@hartage@renee82319 Just for example, my son applied in September and did not get his acceptance until late December. I believe (hope) scholarship may be awarded, but have not received that info. Just letting you know…it may be a while for admissions and financial aid info.
Yes, it came up in my daughters admission portal as well, then a day or so later she had an email requesting the mid term grades and 3 short answer questions. Still waiting on a decision.
Hopefully, this could help you @df123 I haven’t gotten the official word that I’ve gotten in, but financial aid slots did appear on my portal. Maybe check your daughter’s portal as well to see if they are there? Good luck!
You have financial aid links in your admissions portal? @hartage That probably is a positive. My son was accepted in Dec and has no note of financial aid in his portal. I’ve emailed financial aid department and received a response that “financial aid packages will be mailed out in March.” I’m sure that means federal aid, which he will not qualify for. I was hoping for some sort of merit aid or scholarship to offset OOS, but it doesn’t look like that will be the case. I know many students received merit aid notice shortly after acceptance.
My daughter was requested to send additional information to enhance her application as well and now has financial tabs in her portal as well. Hoping this is positive.
@Tylee33@hartage I logged back in to my son’s portal, and Financial Aid display is there (but unfortunately blank!). LSU notified that financial aid awards will be sent out in March, so they may just be updating all portals to prepare for that roll out.
If it helps to know what to expect, you’ll receive an email saying there’s been an update to the portal. I checked the portal at the end of the day before leaving work. Before I even got home, my son called to tell me to hurry home because he got an email saying his portal was updated. So the update/email happend at the same time or very soon after. If you’re a “frequent portal checker” that may help save you some frustration! Good Luck!
My daughter was in the same boat…saw the financial aid update this morning, and then just now logged on and saw she was accepted! Best of luck to all those waiting!
I’m wondering the same. I applied the first week of January. Two weeks ago, my portal had “financial aid” boxes show up. I thought that was a good sign. Then a week later they disappeared and I got the “3 additional questions”. I’m 3.1 GPA with 23 ACT. LSU was the only place I appplied because it’s the only place I wanted to go. Beginning to lose hope and thinking I should apply to schools closer to home (California). The email said decisions will be completed by April 15. Their process seems to be dragging on way too long.
My DD#1 applied early, got her acceptance before the kickoff event and receive her basis federal financial aid about 2 weeks ago. They said department/major related scholarship info should come out in early April. We are OSS and are hoping for something.
