All I have heard about merit scholarships personally was an invitation to fill out the application and essay for the Stamps/Presidential Scholarship a couple weeks ago.
Are you in state? I am OOS, and still havenāt received anything about the stamps or presidential. Nothing about merit either.
Today LSU mailed me a brochure of an initial merit scholarship package, about 14k/year. This package basically covers everything but dorm. By the way, I am instate. And this package does not have any info regarding STAMPS or Presidential Scholar. Good luck everyone!
The letter says āinitialā so I bet LSU has not started calling for Stamps scholar finalists yet. Hopefully I will be called. Cross fingers.
Do you mind sharing your stats? Thank you my daughter is OOS and waiting for merit.
Yeah, Iām OOS and got my invitation for Stamps on December 23. I havenāt got anything about any other merit scholarships though
That is bizarre. Iām hoping I will also receive an invite as my Net merit scholarship calculator on their website told me I am eligible to apply to those scholarships. Perhaps they are just sending them out in waves?
UWGPA 3.8, WGPA 4.6. ACT 34 (Superscore 35), 18 AP, 8 Honors, class rank N/A, 4 year varsity letter (11 years swimming), no leadership title, some volunteering work. Wish the stat help.
@fnpony. Do you attend a large high school.
My son goes to a small school with limited number of AP classes. And only allows freshman to take one. So heāll finish with 11.
My class (2021) started with 430 students and now only 335 stay after school kicked out student who could not maintain 2.5 GPA.
@fnpony. Thanks. My sonās class has 118
11 AP is very good already.
My son was invited to apply for stamps and presidential
In state
Mentioned in prior post he will finish with 11 AP.
7 completed through junior year with 5 on 5 of them.
GPA 4.3
ACT 35(E 36, 35 on others)
SAT subject test for math level 2 and Chemistry 800 on both
Well rounded activities. Baseball Art piano (11 years) and even tried a school musical
He must have received other schoolsā admissions (ranking higher than LSU) already, I guess.
Yes however a bit complicated
Iām sure you know top 20 schools do not give much merit aid. Privates anyway. And his mother and I are divorced. Privates use all money where as publics use custodial parent. Before knowing this his list had several. Rice. Stanford. Cornell etc. So our research turned to top stem public colleges and Rice because of proximity.
He will be going to grad school or med school so coming out of undergrad with no debt is very important.
I saw some ppl share stats so i hope mine can help

Thank you for sharing. Can you please describe more about the invitation? Is it a new form to fill, or is it a schedule of interview? Thank you.
I got an email right before Christmas sending me a form to fill out, which included writing a 500-word essay and submitting a resume by January 3rd. I assume that once they pick finalists, they will start scheduling the interviews. I hope that helps!
