Hi all!! My DS is a junior and he is starting to put together some sort of a list. We live in So Cal so won't be able to do as many visits because of theater commitments. He is mulling over still if he is going to go the BFA route or the BA LAC route..... The main reason being his love of physics. He is also a singer and enjoys music on all levels. I have heard amazing things about LU"s physics and music programs but not much about theater. Is it possible to do both??

You listed three things (Physics, Music, and Theater) and asked if it’s possible to do both–which suggests, to me, two things.

Given what you have said so far, Lawrence ought to be a great fit. If you can, visit. I know that might be difficult, but LU is definitely worth the time.

I’m a current freshman at LU. I don’t think it would be possible for him to major in all three of those things, if that’s what you’re going for. However, he could definitely do a double degree in Vocal Performance/Music Education and Theater Arts with a minor in Physics (or vice-versa). It would probably be easiest to do all three if he pursued a BA with a double major in two of those things and a minor in the third. If he’s looking to just participate in all three of those things, he shouldn’t have any problems.

I agree with watchthis; your son sounds like a typical Lawrentian with the information you’ve given. Many of us have two majors, two degrees, a major and a minor, or are just generally interested in a plethora of different activities or subjects. (For what it’s worth, sometimes I feel a little weird since I’m only majoring in Piano Performance with an emphasis in Piano Pedagogy.) That said, I think your son would love Lawrence and I can even picture which dorm he’d probably be in since he seems very productive!
