luggage storage

Does anyone know if WashU provides storage for suitcases, etc., or do you have to store them somewhere in your room (will need them to fly home during breaks)

I honestly have no clue. I've been wondering that myself because I plan on bringing a whole lot of clothes. Perhaps underneath the bed? The closet?

In the dorms there's a basement or back room where you can store your broken-down boxes, labelled with your name on them. The RAs will make an announcement sometime during the first week or so to let you know when and where to bring them. The room stays locked during the year though, so it's pretty much meant for move-in and move-out. I don't think they let you put suitcases in there, but it can't hurt to ask... but i don't think they'll let you take them out and put them back in for breaks.

I stored my suitcases under my bed, nested inside eachother, and on the top shelf of my closet (there's a good amt of room, pretty high). If you raise your bed to the top notch, or on cinderblocks, there should be space underneath, assuming all your suitcases aren't huge and exactly the same size :)

If you don't already have the bags, etc that you'll be bringing, I definitely recommend rolling duffles. I had small duffles and a small suitcase that I used for Thanksgiving break, but a large rolling duffle is really really nice for winter break because you'll be gone so long, and the bag will flatten out when you're not using it - amazingly easy to store.
