^^Why would I be jealous? I love public schools because I can actually get an education for free. Although it would be nice to get to live with friends, it is certaintly not worth the money. Plus, you’re what-- 14-15 years old? Why are you cussing? I thought prep school kids are supposed to be more sophisticated then that.

Regardless of the fact that public school is free, boarding school [well 25% day school] provides a better, more well-rounded education. I was miserable at my public school and the education was terrible, and there weren’t any good private options in my area. Now I’m going to one of the best schools in the U.S. Yeah, it’s pretty expensive if you’re full-pay, but overall I think it’s mostly worth it [also, better teachers and facilities require more money].

ooookaaaay,
Lets see why My folks have to foot the bill for private vs. public
Even though we pay like 80 grand in taxes ea. yr. my public HS dropped football.
Oh, and lets see, science class/ labs with 27 students. soooo fun, lots of attention.
Crime, lock downs, bomb threats
teachers who don
t care because the can
t be fired.

Enjoy your public school. I hope your state has more $ than mine.

I think that it was just unfortunate that you went to a bad public school. Arizona does not have the best schools in the United States but I still take rigorous classes such as AP and honors. I get a free education, hard classes, and still get to play sports.

^My last lab only had 9 people in it. None of our sports were cut off but we do have to pay to be in them. Never had a lock down or bomb threat. Plus in every school you go there will be lock downs or money issues. It’s still better than going to a 50k school just for High School, which does not constitute for your major.

I love ■■■■■■!

I never said a private school in general was bad-- which cost about 20k a year (still a lot). I was talking mainly about prep schools and boarding schools which cost thousands upon thousands of dollars (around 40-50k a year).

Ok if you disagree with the concept of prep schools, why are you on this section of CC?

Good question! You don’t have to like it, but can you keep your opinions to yourself? Besides that, who are you to tell people what is and isn’t reasonable in terms of money paid for private education?

I’ve been looking online, and found that last year, Middlesex received total of 500+ applications for the 10th grade.
I pretty sure this is not right, but can anyone clarify?

Everyone is different. Everyone has different decisions. He/She loves his/her public HS, you love Middlesex. What are you arguing about?

Congratulations! At least you’re in a school that you LOVE.

500+ seems a little high… i’d put it at 300 max. Where did you read that?

120+ apps for 10th grade boarding boy.

completely off-topic, but i was just discussing with a friend. Hunchback of Notre Dame [the disney movie]? I’m personally in love with it. the score is positively epic.

^Soo true!

For some reason I never really got into that one. [Aristocats ftw!]

Aristocats is okay.

zomg The Prince of Egypt’s gonna be on teletoon saturday night. i’m in love with that movie… yeah… i think i know what my plans are. Question is, what are YOURS? hint: there is a wrong answer

myyy plan is to apply to MX and attempt to watch the world cup w/o being distracted. :)

apply to MX… ? their application’s already out?!

500+ for 10 spots???

That’s almost like 11th grade this year…
