Projected UC GPA: 3.75
I really screwed my GPA up with a 3.4 my soph year. I just hope I can stillk salvage it with a 4.3 this semester
I m taking 3 out of 4 AP/H classes my school offers. I m also taking classes at the community college (7 units up to this point)
SAT I: 2120 (planning to retake going for a 2200+)

MTAC performance competition 1st place (piano) (10)
MTAC Level 7 Honors (piano)
Buck Institute Summer Scholar (11)

I would like to know my chances at UCSD, UCD, UCI, Calpoly

Thanks all!

I forgot the following information

ACT composite: 34

~150 hrs comm service up till this point (Aiming for 200 by end of summer)
Novato Riptide Swim Team (9-10) (Most Improved Swimmer)
Track (9)
School to career internship program (9-present): I interned at various high tech companies during all my hs summers.

I know these ECs are pretty lame but thats all Ive got.

^^ You got a chance to get into them! :] Besides your stats look good to me! ^^ Goodluck!

Thanx for the reply and encouragement sneak. But I was under the impression that all the UCs are reaches for me. (Or so my counselor told me) What does everyone else in this forum think?

bump bump bump

what's your rank.

errr... like around 10%. My school doesnt let students know their rank until senior year.

Squarehead, what I believe is that colleges does look at your stats but they look for something else too. Such as how bad you wanna get in, could you afford to pay for the tution, personallity, and passion in something. :] I'm not sure if that's true, but I'm going to try it out when I apply to one of the ivy leagues. ^^ Then we will see if that is true or not. :] IM me on AOL I'll be on so we could talk about it. ^^ See ya!

Sneakiie thanks alot for the encouragement. But these are all UCs. They get so many applicants they dont even read each applicant's essay unless they feel it will push a borderline case over the top or explain something. To the UCs, stats are everything.

I got your AIm. Look forward to seeing u online :)

squarehead - I believe you will be accepted at all the UC's (except for maybe CAL and LA). Just write good essays and you are in! I think that CAL and LA are within reach...just keep trying and try every possible way to show you are passionate and motivated about what you want to do! Good luck

Bump Up My Post

34/36 is pretty sweet, not sure if this converts to higher than 2120 tho.
Have u considered more SAT IIs? that might help in the eyes of the ucs

oh my SAT IIs, forgot to post that

800(Bio M) 740(IC)

I m gonna take the IIC in June. Aiming for a 750+

Bump Up My Post

y not apply 2 UCLA&Berkely too???
u need some reaches in there dude, dont sell yourself short after all

r u kidding me? Berkeley with a 3.75 gpa!? Thats not possible even for an in-state student. Or m I wrong...hopefully

can you guys suggest and liberal arts schools that are a match for me. Thanks alot

bump up my post

There were two kids from my school in Atlanta that got into UC - Berk with around 3.75 unweighted GPA's this year.

squarehead:

UCSD: Slight Reach
UCD: Match
UCI: Match
Cal Poly SLO: Match

err...my 3.75 is weighted but I should have like a 3.6 uw because my school doesnt have that many AP classes
