M&T Chances

It is obviously a very competitive program and my first choice.
Probably my weaknesses are my grades:

Stats
-3.8GPA with a C+ (humanities) a semester my freshman year.
-ACT:34
-AP Bio: 4, AP Physics: 5, AP Enviro: 5, AP Chinese: 3

Pros

  • African American
-Studied a year abroad in China during my junior year
  • 1 of 11 students in nation to pass AP Bio in middle school (scored a four)
  • Published in newspaper for work in Lab, and a nonprofit organization that I started.
  • employed in 3 research labs.
-take graduate-leveled math and physics courses at Milwaukee University (Mechanics and Modern Algebra)
-Business Experience in china with a social media company.
    -great interview

So, what do u think? My hopes are that M&T focuses on significant experience and uniqueness rather than the 2400/4.0

Any opinions are welcome.

i d say very good chance, esp given that you are african american but even without affirmative action your stats place you well within the feasible range of admission for any elite school and program. and don’t worry too much about the grades, they might not be perfect but they are still very good. and your experience seems very solid.

@Penn95 thank you for your support!

^ I would guess that while Penn admissions practices affirmative action, M&T admissions may not. Admission to a selective program within a university seems different than simple admission to a university. But I certainly agree that the OP has some unusual characteristics and experiences that could make him stand out for M&T admissions.

^^ Agree. Both of those courses are undergrad type courses at most universities as far as I remember. The prerequisites would probably be calculus for the math class and an introductory physics class for the mechanics class. I could be mistaken. It’s been a while.
