Hey, guys, so I'm still deciding whether to apply to M&T or not because of its abysmally low acceptance rate.

What would be the turning point in my debate is: if I get rejected from M&T and get a second reading of my app for Wharton, will I be at a disadvantage to getting into Wharton compared to those who applied directly (not after M&T)?

At a Wharton info session, I was told that once denied from M&T, your app is sent to either SEAS/Wharton (depending on what you selected), and placed among the other apps. The adcoms have no idea you even applied to M&T, although they may be able to tell.

I went to the M&T office and asked about this. They said that if M&T rejects you, oftentimes Wharton or SEAS will be eager to snap you up because of the generally high caliber of students applying to M&T. I believe that the woman I talked to said that Wharton and SEAS people are in the admissions room, but I’m not sure. The woman herself didn’t work in admissions, so this may be incorrect.
