that will help there selectivity rating!
But not all applications are for first-year spots. On the other hand, we heard at Berkshire that the first-year class is significantly smaller than the others.
Ok…the try not to freak out thread is starting to make me freak out…just sayin’…
@buuzn03 it has definitely moved from “try not to freak out” to “OMG I’m freaking out!” territory. Again, maybe that’s just me. Seeing the calendar turn to march definitely flipped a switch!
My goodness… I finally wandered into this section of the forum… All I can say:
Now I am wondering just how much AtriaMum is hiding under her cool, unaffected attitude :-?
You can freak out now. But just remember that you need only one acceptance, in this year or the next.
Hardy8635. In what context did they reveal that? I think last year was similar. 60 spots for form 3. I don’t know about the others.
Here is a question to pass the time. Lets say you have four schools that will all announce at the same time at M10. In what order would you reveal the results? I was thinking in reverse order of preference. That would allow for enthusiasm for the schools at the “bottom” of the list? Also–maybe open in order of selectivity lower to higher so that it is likely to already know there are acceptances. Please before anyone takes this too seriously. . .I am not suggesting this matters . . just why not think about it to pass the time. .
Happy March 1st & Good Luck Everyone! It’s been great “meeting” everyone in CC Land this year! Question: Does a package or envelope arrive on March 10th in addition to email, or just email?? Thanks…,
Both email and package on M10 if accepted. Only email on M10 (and a letter in an envelope a few days later) if waitlisted or rejected.
Best wishes to all who await these decisions. I remember so clearly how it felt to wait and freak out with other parents here. I just cannot believe that it was four years ago for us. Bad Kitty and I will be here to cheer y’all on and lend support on M10!
sadieshadow–The information came from an email announcing decisions on portal on M10…
Dear Berkshire Applicants and Families,
This has been an exciting month as we have had the opportunity to read over 1200 applications and learn more about next year’s new Bears!..
Bad Kitty Lives on!!
Lookin’ good @cameo43 !
@sadieshadow my son wants to open in his reverse order…he had decided that a while ago…which is good, in a way, because his top choices aren’t releasing until 6pm, per the emails we’ve received.
@GoatMama Do all school’s send packages if accepted? I was under the impression only a few still did that
Mine wants to know immediately as they come in.
I would be interested in knowing which schools sent packages last year. The package notification thing is a little scary. No package means no acceptance, but if the school doesn’t send a package it’s meaningless.
Good question! Based on previous posts it seems as though some are email ( log into portal), while others are envelopes or packages sent (some arriving FedEx) with also email. It looks like most are “posted” now on portals, but others (thanks @Atria) have been generously posting a list. Also, i think someone posted earlier that they don’t talk @ waiting for a package or FedEx envelope, so not to fuel-up anxiety & also be mindful of your child’s perspective on it. Another parent we know just tells her DS it’s an email or portal link. Wishing you the best & hope you will share good news with us!! Be sure to tell us how you learned results.
@Golfgr8 I just stumbled upon that list as you were posting. Thanks! If anyone else wants to see, it is on the general Prep School Admissions thread and is very comprehensive but clearly stated!
Hardy8635. Whoops I got the same email. Missed that little detail. I wish we had more information about numbers. There will of course be more acceptances than spots . . . Mentioned this number at breakfast as well as the notification dates to my dh. He respectfully explained he would prefer not to talk or think about this any more until m10. He is a wise person!
