M408k vs. M408c

I'm not strong in math, but I get by: which calc class would be better for me? Keep in mind that the only professors left for M408k are Berg and Schultz (who have exceedingly poor reputations) and there are still a few M408c professors like Treisman and Vick that I've heard are good at what they do. I know M408k would be better for someone like who has never taken calculus before... but I feel uneasy taking it with such poorly rated professors.

I've looked at the syllabi and C and K stack up pretty closely; C is just a little faster... Any advice on this?

If you are not strong in math, slower is better. :)

I’m in the same position, I’m thinking of taking monin. No reputation is better than a bad reputation

I just looked at the available courses and looks like Monin is the only one available. Damn.

Monin as in Phil Monin? If that’s the case, he was my TA first semester for M408K! I’d be surprised if he’s a professor… He was awesome though! I never went to office hours or anything but he was good in discussion sections. If it’s him take it!!

I know people who think that M408C was easier because you get partial credit.
M408K is all Quest. Everyone hates Quest. It took me 2 exams to figure out that I needed to study (or memorize lol) my Quest hmwrk problems because the exact same probs would be on the exam. Also, M408K goes in depth more (albeit at a slow pace), which means you really have to understand the material. Sometimes you don’t want to dwell on the concepts and just figure out the answers. HTH!

The key is going to be your TA. I took Calculus during the Fall 2009 (big mistake) with Prof. Gualadani, however, her TA was a genius and actually knew how to teach. My entire class agreed that he should teach over the professor, that’s how good he was…I think his name was James and he was from A&M.
