zschattz, what state?

And congrats!

zschattz: As was mentioned earlier in this thread, FA offer did not come with notice. Presumably it will come later under separate cover.

Accepted in California

D received YES Macalester! envelope today in Central Illinois!

S’s “Yes Mac” envelope is stuck to the front door to greet him when he arrives home from school momentarily. It was a little nerve-wracking to hear that Minnesota hopefuls on the same side of the River as Mac heard on Saturday. Maybe just those who live in St. Paul. In any case, didn’t mention a thing to S over the weekend because he was busy with 2 performances, so he wasn’t on pins and needles all weekend, but I was! Big sigh of relief. Two more to go. Mac is a high, high favorite.

Accepted in Oregon!!

Accepted in Chicago :)

Congrats, everybody, especially thirrdplanet–I know you’ve been anxious!

That’s ditto to SgtDonut. (Do you young whippersnappers know what “ditto” even means???)

Daughter received thin letter today in Wiconsin :(

Accepted in CA! 3.8w, 32 ACT
Crossing fingers for a good FA package. When does that come out?

Yes, we are familiar with the expression, Lucie. :)

One of my best friends was rejected today and my other best friend didn’t get anything in the mail. Sorry to everyone who didn’t receive good news.

Thanks lucie!!

Anyone know when FA comes out? I have to wait for that until I plan a visit.

Yes, I know what ditto means lol.

Yayay! Son was accepted from CT! Although I really don’t think he will go, got in Yale as well! Hopefully this opens up a waitlist spot!

It doesn’t really work that way, unfortunately. Typically they accept a lot more students than will actually attend. If Fiske is correct with a 46% acceptance rate, and they got 6,600 applications this year, then they will admit around 1,100 students in anticipation that about 500 will accept and attend. So they are already assuming that ~600 students will turn them down (too bad all 600 could not get into Yale!) – probably anyone on this forum turning them down would not affect the waitlist.

Any predictions for this year’s acceptance rate???

^^ Mac’s yield is around 25% according to their admissions stats on the website. They look to fill the class out to around 650 a year, since last year, they admitted 116 off the waitlist in addition to the 534 in the regular+early round. They admitted 2214 overall out of which those 534 enrolled btw. Even if you factor in the waitlisted students, the yield wouldn’t be 46%. Last year, they had 6030 applicants, compared to 6600 this time so I’d say you’d be looking at an admit rate of between 30 and 33%.
