Congrats to your son. I’m confident that my boy made the right choice as well. I think the weather will be a real eye opener for those not from the region. We are from NYC, so we see our fair share of cold weather and snow, but I doubt it will compare to a true Minnesota winter…layers, layers, layers…
We just received an email regarding EA - asking for notification if my senior had an ED decision elsewhere and needed to withdraw his EA app. I’m assuming they sent it to everyone in the EA group.
Mine already withdrew her application since she does have an ED acceptance. She withdrew it Friday night. Unlike some other schools Mac made it easy to do.
Though looks like she also got the email
yep, i got one too today.
Updated, they did get the email but hadn’t really read it. Kids.
DS got the same.
Oh, accidentally I saw you on the other thread that your daughter was accepted to Vassar if I correctly remembered your screen name. Congratulations!! Vassar is an excellent school!! Hope she will enjoy a lot!!
Yes! Thank you so much!
Do we have any idea of the timing for EA release on the 19th? Also wondering why MAC doesn’t have a page here like the others, showing dates on the front ED/EA page?
The official EA date is “by the 19th” but at some point I could have sworn I saw something that said the 17th…but I can’t find it now.
Anyone know what to make of the “Warmest Wishes” Mac email from a few days ago? Is it just to remind us all how nice people in Minnesota? Or is their note about being closed starting December 24th? Is that just to tell people that if you need to contact them (for questions after being admitted or to yell expletives after being denied/deferred) to do so before then?
I did notice today that the withdraw button was gone from the portal.
As an opinion, it is probably the latter. They want to make sure that their yield rate remains high and to avoid admitting those students who are already committed to their ED schools.
Anyone else feeling antsy after seeing that the Mac page for class of 2026 started posting students?
They didn’t say whether or not the were ED or EA.
Did you receive it or did your student receive it?
Aha, that makes sense. As a parent, I thought it was a great thing to do - my son really liked Macalester but was admitted elsewhere ED. Making it easy to withdraw his app from Mac seemed like another nice touch. And let us hope that it would help someone else get good news of an acceptance!
Where do you see this on the Mac website?
Guessing it’s ED…it would be weird to include EA students since most will not have committed.
My S22 just withdrew his Mac application as just accepted to his ED school. We really liked Mac and I wish I knew about it back when I was in high school! They did make it easy to do and congratulations to any new Mac students!
It’s on the Macalester Instagram page called macalester20206
