I accidentally mentioned on my common app essay..on the last sentence..why Yale was right for me but this accidentally got sent to 3 other schools. Should I email them and say something?

uhoh. that's not good.

damn dude. thats the worst mistake you can make...

Don't e-mail. There is nothing you can do at this point, and the last thing you want to do is flag it.

That is quite a dilemma. Personally, I would report it as someone on the Penn forum made a similiar mistake on his application, reported it, and was still admitted. It is entirely up to you though.

dude don't ignore it, call and find out if that can be switched because "I had a problem using the common application and the wrong essay was sent to your school"

wow man, bad move.

Wow that really blows......

Call, tell them. I'm sure they'll understand. If you're right for their school, i'm sure they won't throw you out for that.

omg.. that's a BIG MISTAKE..i think you should call them.

I think ns347's advice is probably the best. Computer glitches are a great cover when you gotta fix something like that. See if you can fax them a different copy of your essay, but you should really do some extra tweaking of each essay before you fax to really personalize it and address each school individually. This way, if they do decide to look at both, they'll see that you're taking them seriously.

Ask if you can speak to a secretary, someone that won't be reviewing your application, and have the secretary switch the essays.

I called the colleges and asked to send a replacement essay and they said it was fine. I hope they don't look at both of them!

I think you made a discerning decision.
