So I wrote my Common App essay, and found it to be far too long. I suppose I must have gotten a tad bit too involved in the story, but now I don't know what parts to cut out (I'm sentimental like that). So ... could anyone practiced at the art of butchering and / or simple editing (I failed the writing section of the SAT ... kind of) help me out? I swear the actual length is misleading, it's a quick read ... kind of.

Also, since it is over 1000 words, what's the best way to send it? Never done this before (ask for help, that is).

Ah, well that's a relief at least. I do think it would be beneficial if someone took a look at it to tell me if I begin to ramble though. So to broadcast a plea to all editors: Please edit my paper, harsh criticism is accepted and encouraged!

I big on giving harsh criticism and am already in ed, so send it on. (But I'm serious about being critical and will edit it strenuously, so beware...)

Does anyone else think they could help me out? hpg90 was a great help, a few more looking at it might help me steer it in the right direction though. Thanks!
