Maintaining GPA After being Admitted

What GPA should you maintain so that you're not rescinded?

I read on most UC pages that you have to maintain a 3.2 OVERALL GPA.

Does that mean even if you get, let's say, under a 3.0 one quarter, that you wouldn't be in danger of being rescinded since your OVERALL GPA is high enough to take the hit and still be higher than the required 3.2?

Or is their a quarter GPA minimum as well?

Depends if it’s UCLA or Berkeley you’re talking about. I think they want a 3.0 or higher GPA for the last quarter/semester. Just the specific semester.

Who’s getting into a UC with a gpa in the sub 3.0 category?

Usually I think, as long as it not stated to you specifically to be different, it’s no D’s or F’s ad you’re good.

Berkeley (possibly just CoE?) will specifically want a 3.0+ for every quarter/semester (not overall) after you’re admitted, that includes winter, spring, and summer sessions.

I think the others I got into (UCI, UCSD, UCSC) just wanted no failing grades and at least a 3.0 overall.

So, depends on the school. You should probably keep your grades up either way.

For Davis it’s actually at least 2.8 [Undergraduate Admissions: FAQ by Topic](<a href=“Undergraduate Admissions”>Undergraduate Admissions) , although I doubt they’d actually admit you with a 2.8 (if you fell from like 3.8 to 2.8 after getting in though, that’s a different story). It’s just an overall GPA and not failing any classes, because you’re in by that time anyways.

At UC’s, all the ‘+’ and ‘-’ in your grades count! Back when I was in CC, an ‘A-’ was same as an ‘A’ and ‘A+’. A 2.8 GPA is a B-, usually it would be a 3.0 at my CC. It depends on the school and etc.
