How hard is it to maintain a high GPA at Cornell? I'm a prospective student that wants to pursue medicine. So keeping a high GPA (possibly around 3.5+) would make it much easier applying to medical schools. Its either Cornell or a BA/MD program and i want to make sure it isn't impossible to maintain a high GPA before giving up on the BA/MD program.

If you study? Not hard. If you party four nights a week? Hard.

Freshman year is typically what makes or breaks you. Some kids get all excited about their newfound college freedom and don't take their studies seriously. Then they wonder why they have a 3.1 when they graduate.

3.5 isn't too hard at all, assuming that ur majoring in something that is of interest to you and you put decent effort into your work. keeping up is very important for your success. But, i would say that as you go up around 3.8-3.9 territory, this becomes very hard esp. as a premed and you will need to have very strong work ethic, high intelligence, and aptitude for the subject of your major in order to obtain this gpa. but, again, if u major in some 'easy' major (which i doubt since ur a premed), 3.5 should be pretty easy.

sorry for kinda changing the subject, but how hard is it to maintain a 3.5+ in the Hotel school?

Depends on how well you can bake cookies.

I shouldn't really be joking about this, seeing as Hotelies are the ones making six figures and working in the Bahamas. But bah.

yeah, for hotel, just make sure you don't totally bomb the bed making final, you'll be fine

My cookie-baking and bed-making finals conflicted. Luckily, there's no rule that says you can't make beds while baking cookies.

So many hotelies were in the kitchen that night, pulling all-nighters for that cooking-baking final.

LMAO ok so all jokes aside, the courses that make or break your GPA in the Hotel School are, for most people, the accounting and finance cores. If you're good with numbers -then- start worrying about the culinary and the restaurant management class. The average GPA I think is lower than 3.5 though.
