<p>Does choosing your major have an effect on admissions? I mean do they take into account how much space they have in several departments and craft their freshmen class accordingly? </p>
<p>Do they try to diversify the departments? So if you are a URM going into a major where there are very little URMs usually, and is not very popular in general, then you have a greater advantage?</p>
<p>i don't really know except for if you're a girl in engineering you should put that down because i did and im pretty sure it helped me a lot with getting into schools. i mean you do need to be smart enough to handle the work, but it's more of a hook.</p>
<p>You may have an advantage, especially for a "less" popular major, if your stats are in the range to qualify you for acceptance anyway. Give it a try.</p>
