Major concerns at Cal States

Few Q’s:

  1. what are the most competitive majors in Cal State LB?

I am local high school student in LB, 3.59 GPA, SAT score yet to be determined in a few weeks. I’m trying to major in business; specifically either marketing or international Business. I have taken Entrepreneurship, Marketing, International Business, and soon to take Business Capstone for senior year. Soon I will be taking an international business test at at community college for college credit, it will go on my transcript if I get a C or better.

  1. Does it look like I can go to any other CSU's with my info so far?

3.Does the business classes I take in high school make my chances (higher) to get in as a business major at CSULB?

  1. will admissions notice that I took classes related to my major?
  2. Will it be easier to get in since I am a local?
  3. How competitive is it?
  4. Do you get to choose more than one major when you apply?

This is all the info I have so far, advice and all answers are welcome, thanks

Average CSU GPA: 3.68 SAT (M+CR): 1100 ACT: 25

You can designate an alternate major, put very few CSU’s will consider it.

Depending your EI calculation, which I posted in your other thread, no recommendations until you have an SAT/ACT score. SJSU, SFSU, CSUF, SDSU, CPP could be possible. Much will depend upon your final EI.

  1. what are the most competitive majors in Cal State LB? Nursing
  2. Does it look like I can go to any other CSU's with my info so far? If you complete all the a-g classes and earn decent test scores (1200+ M&R SAT), you could probably make

3.Does the business classes I take in high school make my chances (higher) to get in as a business major at CSULB?
No - They want to see completed a-g and that’s it. Use the link below to search for your school. If your biz class in on the list, they count toward your CSU GPA. If not, the college basically ignores them - like they do PE. This tool is labled UC, but the CSUs use an identical list.

  1. will admissions notice that I took classes related to my major? No - they simply use the formula above to rank applicants.
  2. Will it be easier to get in since I am a local? Yes - local students have a lower admission threshold.
  3. How competitive is it? As a local applicant 3.3-3.5GPA and 1150 SAT should do the trick for Business.
  4. Do you get to choose more than one major when you apply?

You may choose an alternate but, they won’t consider it. CP Pomona is the only one that will admit you in your alternate.
