Competitive majors in CSULB

Few Q’s:

  1. what are the most competitive majors in Cal State LB?

I am local high school student in LB, 3.59 GPA, SAT score yet to be determined in a few weeks. I’m trying to major in business; specifically either marketing or international Business. I have taken Entrepreneurship, Marketing, International Business, and soon to take Business Capstone for senior year. Soon I will be taking an international business test at LBCC for college credit, it will go on my transcript if I get a C or better.
2. Does the business classes I take in high school make my chances (higher) to get in as a business major at CSULB?

  1. will admissions notice that I took classes related to my major?
  2. Will it be easier to get in since I am a local?

This is all the info I have so far, advice and all answers are welcome, thanks

All majors at CSULB are impacted so all majors will be competitive.

Local in-service area applicants do get priority.

Any rigorous classes you take in HS, will help with your admission which includes college courses. It is always helpful to have courses in your major of interest but how helpful is difficult to say since your GPA will be based upon your a-g required courses and any Honors or AP classes taken in your 10-11th grades.

The Cal States use the eligiblity index to rank their applicants (except SLO). You need to calculate your CSU GPA and have your SAT Math and CR scores. (CSU GPAx800) + (SAT Math + CR). If your EI is around 4000+, you have a good chance for an acceptance.
