Just out of curiosity, does anybody know someone who is getting their degree in CALS and managed to minor in something offered by the engineering school? I ask because I am interested in doing this but I'm not sure if its allowed.

For almost all minors, it’s allowed.

[Cornell Engineering : Minors](http://engineering.cornell.edu/programs/undergraduate-education/minors/index.cfm)

I really hope thats the case, but:

To complete an Engineering minor, a student must:

* Be enrolled in a Major that approves participation of its affiliates in the desired engineering minor
- Successfully complete all the requirements for a bachelor of science degree in engineering
- Satisfactorily complete six courses (18-credit minimum) as stipulated in a college-approved engineering minor offered by an engineering department/school other than that which offers the student’s Major.

I don’t meet that second requirement if I’m in CALS

you can take the courses anyway and say that you took them on your resume somehow. However I’m guessing for any engineering minor their will be courses that probably require as a prerequisite math 1920, 2390, or 2340 as well as probably phys 1112, 2213, or 2214 so it would be difficult in that sense for a non engineer to take those courses as they would first need to take the math and science prerequisites.

anybody else have any opinions or knowledge on this matter?

That’s what I plan on doing, only I’m majoring in environmental engineering through CALS so I don’t know if that’s any help to you. :/
