Hello, I was just wondering if this was allowed. If I were to apply and get accepted into the school of engineering and major in engineering there, could I also take a minor that is in the school of arts and sciences? I say this because there are programs that greatly interest me at more than one school at Cornell. Thank you all who answer.
Hi,
It is very possible to minor in something in College of Arts and Sciences even though you are in Engineering. You just need to know how to plan your classes to ensure that you are able to meet requirements for both your major and minor.
Thank you for your response! Has anyone done this and could you share your story? How difficult would it be to manage?
Since you have to take some electives, you can use some of those towards your minor. My daughter is ECE with a minor in music. Difficulty is relative to the person and what they choose. But, yes, it’s doable.
My D is a rising senior. She is in CALS majoring in Biology, and minoring in economics in Dyson. It has been very doable for her. However, it is much easier if you start early enough to map out courses for your four years, so don’t wait until you are a jr to decide to have a minor!
Thank you so much for your responses!
