well here is question

my first goal is CPA//while final goal is financial management.

for that

If i choose major as math and minor as bus(account) at Cal

do I have chance to take minor courses?

I wonder since there are HAAS people...

haas does not have acct minor. and math is tough.

its almost impossible to get into core haas courses during the regular semester because haas students get priority for all the seats. also, the math major is extremely difficult.

Hey Jetforce,

I’ve read a lot of the posts between you and Supa_Rumpa and I really appreciate all the feedback you’ve provided us CC math transfers. This is the first time I’ve ever heard you directly address math at Cal in such way.

Could you elaborate a little?

does haas have minors?

haas doesn’t have any minors.

@whatasunnydayday: I’ve always said that the math major is completely different from what people are used to in calculus, lower div linear algebra/differential equations. I think this is why upper division math and the entire math major is inherently difficult. These courses stress creativity and clever thinking rather than memorization of formulas and techniques. The difficulty lies in how abstract the material gets and the ways you must think about topics. If you want to see the difference between lower div and upper div math check out the homework for upper division linear algebra and compare it to what you’ve covered in your linear algebra course. The closest thing to upper div math at a CCC would be discrete math because that course teaches you how basic proof structures and i highly recommend it for anyone that is thinking about the math major. Many people find out that a math major isn’t what they thought it would be after they transfer.
