Hi Aubi,
I would say that you could easily get into colleges 2-5, and you have a fair chance of getting into UPenn. Boston and NYU are also quite likely to accept you. If they all accept you, I would recommend either Duke or UPenn.

University of Pennsylvania- Low Reach (Ivy, enough said.)

University of Notre Dame (Pre-Medicine)- Low Reach
I say this because our class Valedictorian with ridiculous EC’s, tragic back story (both parents dead), and was the president of a city wide volunteering organization with 800+ service hours was rejected because she had a 30 on her ACT.

Duke University- Good chance

Emory University- Good chance

Penn State University- Safety

NYU and Boston seem pretty safe. However the programs are difficult, but if you put enough time and effort into each step of applying to them, you should have a good chance. These programs are irreplaceable and you should definitely attend if you are offered a place within out of them.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph. As a parent, why are you asking other kids of your age if you can get into certain schools? Also, there is no premed major. As a mom of a med school student I will tell you the following. Unless your parents are very wealthy, go to an UG school that will minimize your debt. Medschool is VERY expensive, 73k a year for my daughters private and maybe half that for state schools. Goodd luck.

If that is true I stand to be corrected. That being said, as the mom of a MS2 who is on her admissions committee, a premed major is useless. Take your med school pre reqs and then major in something you are passionate about. Bio and chem majors are a dime a dozen, but if you do research and papers in UG that will set you apart. You DON’T have to major in sciences to get into medschool,my D was accepted at nine with a Classics major. Visit the premed forum here on cc for more info.

I definitely think you a have a chance at all of these. I might try working on your reading/writing test scores but your ethnicity probably helps a lot. Try to focus on your future career goals in your application because colleges like to see applicants putting a lot of passion into one subject, as well as being well-rounded.
UPenn-reach (for anyone)
Notre Dame-low reach
Duke-reach
Emory-low reach
Penn State-probable
BU-probable/match
NYU-high match
I definitely think you have a good range of schools, though. It doesn’t seem like you have a top school, so I wouldn’t do ED just for the sake of doing it - do it for a school you want to go to much more than the rest, which it doesn’t seem like.

I think you look great! do you plan to take the SAT again? Maybe take it again to get a higher R score. Your’s is great. I think it’s good enough for most schools. But UPenn probably will be picky.

You’re a first gen? That will definitely help you in the college application process. Judging from your ECs and GPA, You’ll get into Penn state, no question about that. You actually have a good shot of getting admitted in all the schools that you mentioned. For your top two schools however, you might want to upgrade your SAT score a little bit (especially critical reading) just to be safe. UPenn is iffy, as are all Ivy leagues, as people with nearly perfect SAT and GPAs have been rejected before. Good Luck Aubi!

Chance of getting in to any of those colleges are lower than most for a majority of people. Of the people that would be above the 50 % chance, I think you are in the 75 % of that population. So chances are medium reach for most. Penn State your Golden.
