So, this semester is my last semester at CC (hopefully!!) and I'm finishing up some major prep courses before transfer. I'm hoping to transfer as a linguistics major with Spanish emphasis. The only problem is, on assist, there's no "specific" courses in linguistics to take, other than a language or two. I spoke to our campus' UCLA Representative last semester, asking him about the linguistics courses. Apparently on UCLA's catalog, it says to take courses in the language as well as courses related to culture, art, literature, etc. It also stated having a Cultural Anthropology course and an Introduction to Linguistics course (if offered at CC) were highly recommended.

WELL.....

I was browsing through our campus bookstore today when I spotted an "Introduction to Linguistics" course. Apparently the course at our college is under the English division. Unfortunately, when I read through the course description again, I found out that the course is CSU Transferable ONLY, which means, even if I DO take the course, UC won't even grant me credit for taking the course.

It would be nice to get a preview of an introductory linguistics course, but since it's not UC transferable, should I even bother with it? Taking the course would mean having to drop my Honors Cultural Anthro course (which I can replace with regular anthro) to take this new one.
