Is it better to put a major on your app over putting undecided? Does it matter at all? Also, how many people who go to college are undecided?

It only matters at some schools, where you’re admitted by major. Like at Georgia Tech, students are admitted to different schools in the university based upon their major - so it may be more difficult for an engineering student to gain admissions to Tech than a student entering Ivan Allen, which is their liberal arts school.

At the majority of schools where you are just applying to their undergraduate division, then no, your major doesn’t matter at all. A lot of students apply undecided, and a large number also put a major on but end up changing their mind either before they get to the college or in their first two years.
