which major should i apply to that would give me the best chances of getting accepted??? i know it's kind of cheating the system, but i just want to get in!!!

anything "studies"

No, "anything" studies puts you in with the rest of the L&S pool including all the Pre-Biz, Pre-Law and Pre-Med people.

Apply to College of Natural Resources under Environmental Science, Policy and Management.

Do you have any reason to believe putting one major down instead of another will in L and S will change your chances at all? (Answer- no).

Which college are you applying to, de la noche?

Look, if a student applies to anything "studies," the liberal adcom will feel great pride and probably affirmative actionize the student.

Do you really believe that an applicant applying to a science major within L&S who has no proven aptitude for science (no supporting ECs, relatively moderate grades in the subject, no aptitude as shown by various exams) will fare as well as one that applies to the same major with a proven aptitude?

Not that this is what the OP was going for. But I'm just saying, it's not so outlandish that they consider major when deciding admits.

Of course! If everyone minus one applies to MCB and the remaining person applies to Classics, they're not going to turn the Classics kid away!

well, i eventually want to be in Haas, but i know i cant do that till junior year..

so if i applied as a "Forestry/Natural Resources" major, would that suffice as a decently uncommon major??

haha forestry

Unless you are applying for Engineering, I would say any major you write on your application has no effect on your admission. Might as well put business administration, or undecided.

Just do undeclared L&S. I think statistically it's true that it's easier to get into CNR (esp. the forestry program thing), but then you have to go through the whole process of switching out of CNR, into L&S, and then you'll be wanting to apply to Haas. Besides, even if you're only in CNR for a year, you still have to do some requirement stuff I think

yeah but i am from out of state.. i dont want to risk not getting in

Then don't apply.

:)

Like I said, it's more likely that you'll get in if you apply to a non-impacted, non-hardcore major. I recommend American Studies.
