First of all, I'm a senior in high school and I'm planning to go to my safety for 2 years and transfer to a better school.

This school is a business school (Baruch). If I plan to transfer to a different school, does it also have to be a business one? This question can be broken down into several questions:

1) Do you take courses related to your major during your freshman and sophomore years? If so, are they important to your course load as a transfer applicant?
2) If yes to #1, will I be at a disadvantage, then? What if my ECs reflect the major I want to study in my latter school, but my courses don't? Will that make up for such a situation (given that it is an issue in the first place)?
3) Is switching majors, or majors in general, even an issue for underclassmen, particularly those that want to transfer?

no one can shed any info on majors?

Dang with 619 posts i would think your a veteran here and would know already. Heres what i think are the answers.

1) Generally no. But it always depends on your major, but in most cases you will be doing your GE’s (general education) for the first two years. and if you happen to either complete all your GE’s before two years or dont need that many and depending if the course is transferable or not, then yes they would be important ONLY IF they are major pre-reqs required to transfer for your specific major.

2) Like i said, its usually very unlikely as you will be taking your GE’s; however if that is the case, when you transfer you usually not engage in upper division courses because you will be transferring after 2 years. Which generally is the time span to finish GE’s and all major pre-reqs (if required to transfer that is)

As long as your EC’s reflect your major then you should be fine. And even then you can still have awesome EC’s and still have it be different than your intended major.

3) Usually never a problem. First two years are there to help students figure out what they want to major in. Many people are still undeclared eve after 2 years, but for some colleges you must declare to transfer. The downside to switching majors is that you may find yourself completing a bunch of other major pre-reqs that wont have any use if you switch majors.

After you transfer usually switching majors, depending on the school, is nearly impossible or you will have to re-apply.

gluck!
