Alright, I've been thinking about this in my spare time. If you could make a band consisting of any 4 people, living or dead, who would it include? I still can't decide on mine, but here's the basic outline.

Drummer - I've never seen anyone question that Neil Peart of Rush is the greatest drummer ever, but I've always really liked Terry Bozzio and Ian Paice too (Bozzio plays for Zappa and Paice for Deep purple). I guess I would have to pick Peart.

Bassist - Geddy Lee of Rush or Entwistle of the Who. Based solely on technical merit, again, I would have to take Lee.

Lead guitar - Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. Certainly one of the 10-15 guitarists of all time, but I've always liked his style and sound. If not him, then SRV or Hendrix.

Vocals - I would pick either Trey Anastasio of Phish or David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. They're both phenomenal, and picking either one would also give my band a second lead guitar.

Well I'll admit I don't know a ton about music, but I love listening to it anyway. I've actually been getting more into Rush recently...have you heard their fairly newish cover of Summertime Blues? Amazing...

As to the band, I would agree that Neil Peart is insanely talented but if you're making more of a traditional band he might not fit in, with his prog rock tendencies and such. Perhaps John Bonham could fill in for him, but either would be a good choice.

As for lead guitar, I would suggest Clapton as a possibility. He's certainly been around a long time and has amazing versatility...I still love his solo on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."

And for a dark horse guitarist candidate, I think Henry Garza of Los Lonely Boys shows a lot of promise and would provide some young blood.

Yeah, me too. Suprised I haven't gotten more responses. Those are some really good choices there, Bonham was an amazing drummer. The only reason I didn't include Clapton is because I've heard him so insanely much I wanted a little different sound, and that is an awesome solo. Allman is an amazing guitarist too, but his sound is slightly different than that of everyone else on the list, which is the reason I didn't pick him (I'm assuming that Peart and Lee can sound like whatever you tell them to sound like).
