Hi. So, I just got my midterms grades, and they basically follow the pattern of my grades throughout high school. Humanities, excellent. Math and science, not so much. I have worked so hard over the past few years to make up for my low grades in the beginning of high school. I’m so terrified that this will paint me in a bad light on mid year reports. I’m not asking whether getting a couple of Bs is going to affect my chances; I know it will, significantly. I guess what I’m wondering is if anyone has had a similar experience, or has any advice. I feel like I’ve let myself down, and even with safeties, I’m feeling panicky about getting rejected everywhere haha. Is it possible that colleges will be less upset by my mid year grades in STEM bcause they are consistent with how I’ve traditionally done in those classes? (Also, my grades are average in those classes in comparison with other students, which colleges will not know…). Is there anything I can do at this point but wait and worry?
Your profile is consistent: Humanities, excellent; math and and science, not so much. If your midyear grades are what would have been expected there should be no impact.
If you applied to the right range of colleges then you shouldn’t worry. Did you? You should, have applied to a few colleges in whihc your stats place you at or above the 50th percentile. Youshould have applied to a couple of schools in whihc yiur stats are above the 75th percentile. Assuming you applied wisely, relax.
Yes, I did apply to a range. I hope you’re right!! Thank you!
That’s what I was hoping!! I’m assuming they’ll be less concerned because it doesn’t reflect me suddenly slacking off or something.
