Makeup of Freshman Class at UMD

If I've read the UMD-DP website and CDS information correctly, about 26400 high school seniors apply to UMD, about 11600 are admitted, and about 3900 enroll.

The website says that they offer admission to the Honors College to about 1000 freshman. So is 1000 about the size of the enrolled Honors College freshman contingent? Or is the number of enrolled freshmen in the Honors College much smaller (like, about 320, if the yield is the same as for the class overall)?

Same question for the College Park Scholars programs -- the website seems to imply that they offer 70-90 spots in each of the 11 Scholars programs, making for about 1000 total. Is that the number of offers, or the actual number that end up enrolled?

If it says “they offer” it means that’s not necessarily how many enroll. You could call the honors program office and ask…

I could call… but really I’m just kind of curious about the demographics: are approximately 50% of all Freshman in either Honors or College Park Scholars, or is it a much smaller number?

I read that there are 1000 total enrolled in Honors (that would include all 4 years fresh, soph, jr. and sr).

memake, it is a much smaller number of the freshman class that is in either Honors or College Park Scholars.
