I'm a high school senior who's wondering how you know for sure that you're ready to submit your deposit and enroll.

I fell in love with Elon last spring and was going to apply ED. I got cold feet and began looking for other schools closer to home (VT) in late September. After getting accepted EA with a scholarship a few weeks ago I have decided I really do want to go there. I still haven't heard back from some of my other top choices up North, but I don't think I really want to go to them as much. I've liked most of the schools I've toured, but Elon is the only one that has actually clicked at all.

I feel like I've made a final decision, but I'm wondering how can I really know when to submit my deposit. I could wait right up until May 1st, and maybe change my mind again, or I could enroll and then embrace my decision. Due to scholarships the price is less than I was originally expecting to pay for school, so money isn't really an issue.

You make no mention of your parents. Presumably, they are onboard with whatever decision you make and they are willing to pay the EFC?

Will there be palpable advantages to making a decision now that outweigh the advantages of waiting? Remember, you were surprised by Elon’s generosity. Might you be surprised by another school’s?

If you and your family are all 100% POSITIVE about Elon, and the school is affordable, then you can send in your money early. If there is any lingering doubt whatsoever, then wait. As an aside, I’d also find out from Elon is there is any advantage to sending your deposit in early – for example, some schools give freshman housing priority to those who send in a deposit early.
