Does anyone know any more information about them? They are seen as prestigious (some more than others), so does anyone know about the process of getting into them? (TEJAS, Texas Blazers, Iron spikes, etc.) Also, most clubs express at least some sort of spirit, philanthropic, or fraternal experience but what really do each org have to offer?

The processes for getting into each organization varies. The well known ones are Tejas, Texas Blazers, Iron Spikes, Texas Wranglers, Cowboys, and Silver Spurs. Most of these organizations work in a process similar to Fraternities where they host tailgates, philanthropic events and mix with female organizations. They also tend to have casuals, formals and multiple date events.

Cowboys & Silver Spurs:
Very selective from what I’ve seen. You typically try out after being a member of one of the other organizations or a fraternity.

Blazers:
I honestly do not know much about this group. It seems to be one of the smaller male spirit organizations.

Tejas:
This is the only male spirit group with an actual house. The process for getting into Tejas has been described as a very long process where you get to know the guys and eventually they may offer you a spot in the organization. Basically, there is no formal process. Definitely more selective than the Texas Wranglers and Iron Spikes. One things Tejas is well known for is the flashcard section at UT football games that is right above the tunnel for the team. Tejas goes into the stadium before each game and sets up flashcards that will be held up to form a picture right at the end of the second half.

Texas Wranglers:
One of the more intense male groups. They have morning workouts every week for the new members, who are called the Mavericks. Overall a great group of guys.

Iron Spikes:
The Iron Spikes are technically the official spirit group of the UT Baseball Team. They are one of the larger male spirit groups, and are not as selective as the rest. Iron Spikes is much more laid back than the other groups, and seems to have a much more fun atmosphere. I would definitely recommend any male coming to UT who doesn’t want to be in a fraternity to check out the Iron Spikes.
