Chrome, Firefox and some other browsers have been blocking access to CC due to a malware alert. The site has been verified as fine by our technical staff and, as an extra precaution, we have disabled our ad system. We believe for a period of seconds there may have been some spurious code on a small number of pages on the site. This was corrected immediately, but not before Google automatically flagged the site as problematic. Unfortunately, it can take many hours to clear the alerts even when the site is fine.
You may use Internet Explorer to view the site while we wait for the site to be rechecked and the browser warnings removed. Or click the “Advanced” and “Proceed” links in Chrome if you see the message. Thanks for your patience.
It was a bit alarming to see the caution page pop up, but I bravely (or naively?) continued onto the site several times this afternoon. Thanks for your reassurances.
I can report that my work computer intercepted two trojan viruses. It is unclear if those came from embedded ads, but the threat is clear. For some reason - one way of entry was reported as clean - so I came here to let someone know there is an actual problem.
On multiple occasions over the past few months when I’ve accessed CC, security software at work our company’s malware detection software blocked several ads on the CC site. The malware detection software did however allow the discussion home portion of the site through. This happened on Friday morning hours before firefox blocked the site altogether.
