So mandatory orientation is August 25th, 26th, and 27th. I dont mind going to the august 25th and 27th orientation. August 26th is my moms and a good friend of mines birthday. My parents planned to take all of us out for the day. We were gonna have a good time but I cant go. I was wondering when will this orientation end on august 26th. If i cant go with my family can i atleast bring my friend to the orientation so i can atleast be with her on her birthday. Is there a time that this will finish? Is there at any time i can leave campus to go pick her up such at like 12 o clock in the afternoon. Anyone who has any information about the orientations can you please tell me. Thanks so much

A lot of info should be on the site, but I believe that orientation ends at 5 each day. You should double check though. :)

The only mandatory orientations are the ones concurrent with and immediately after move in day. There are sessions on all sorts of topics. It is presumed that once you move in, you are at Fordham and not at home (cf. commuters), and available for these important sessions to get you off to a good start.

You did not explain your situation: which campus, commuter or resident student, or transfer student.

Mom’s birthdays are important, but it may be time to cut the apron strings and focus on being a Fordham Ram. Plus its a great time to acclimate to your classmates.

I’d strongly suggest that you attend the orientation (and absolutely do not bring a friend). As an incoming freshman you should use the orientation days to learn as much as you can about Fordham, take care of anything that you need to do (ex. some people need to adjust their schedule), get prepared for classes (get books etc.), get used to the campus and surrounding area, and meet as many people as you can. It would make sense for you to celebrate with your mom and your friend either before orientation begins or (if you are commuting) on the evening of Aug. 26.
