It looks like my son has narrowed it down to these two schools. Each have something he likes and doesn’t like. One question I have is that he feels Manhattan is considered a better school (academically). Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Or how can I confirm or check on this?
We never added manhattan to S19’s final list after briefly visiting and mainly because of the campus layout. It seemed a bit disjointed with the engineering facilities some distance from the main area of campus. Emmanuel has the Colleges of the Fenway going for it and the option to enroll at any of the institutions.
What is his likely major?
He is leaning towards psychology but isn’t completely sure.
Although it may be a plus for your son, Emmanuel was just a Womens college until 2001 and is still about 70% female. In going through this now the one thing to keep asking yourself is what is important to your son. Having to walk two blocks to the Engineering building doesn;t matter if he’s not going to be an engineer.
What does he like about each school? Do you think he will go in as a Psyc major or undeclared. Look at the actual programs for each one, are there differences in the degrees offered? How well supported is the department in the university? Internship opportunities? Study Abroad? NY vs Boston?
The good news is you have two great choices. I’m sure in the end one will just feel like the best fit
