Our D did too!
That’s great! Congrats
Ugh - what a tease!
Congrats!
Hope we know today!
My D did too!
Their website is down currently…not sure if that means anything or not.
My portal is normal now. No decision posted anywhere though!
Is today the day…
No email came, but results are up on the admissions portal! D was accepted!
Same here – thanks for alerting us! Confusingly, the decision is not under “Application Status,” where I’d been looking initially, but further down under “Admission Results.” Scholarship results are posted, too!
It was a no for us…Congrats to all who got in! What an opportunity!
My D is accepted to MSM and very interested, but her HS show doesn’t allow her time to make a visit as an accepted student (she auditioned on campus). I’m not really even sure a visit would be fruitful since there is currently no Musical Theatre program there. She does plan to try and have a phone conversation to ask some questions, but I’m wondering – has anyone has gleaned further information about MSM’s MT program, through a visit / informational session?
@MTmomGrace - A friend went this week to visit. I don’t think she is on CC but I will look up the info she gave me in a Facebook message and pass it on to you in a little bit.
ok, @MTmomGrace - this is what my friend said about it after visiting…
“Msm was great but if you want a good MT program that also has academics- this is not the school. It is a perfect fit for my son. It is a performance training school - a true conservatory. They will work very hard and stay focused on becoming performers. The school is committing huge resources- building a whole new floor of high tech dance and rehearsal studios with lounges and other facilities for MT. Other than a rigorous music theory and music history curriculum - the academics are one humanities class each semester which they chose for the kids the first 2 years but are held at Barnard. Everyone we spoke to was very nice and helpful. Dorms- all doubles with practice rooms on each floor. All renovations will be ready for fall semester.”
I also remember her saying that she feels like the staff will be very committed to getting work for the students in an effort to build it’s reputation.
Hope that helps!
@sleepymom Thank you so much for the response (and please thank you friend)! My daughter also really wants to focus solely on training so that would be perfect for her too. I am a little concerned about not having upperclassmen MTers as part of the community, but I am happy for D to be with classical musicians, as she is a classically trained singer.
Our daughter will be attending MSM. Her brother is a third year undergrad in classical VP at Juilliard and the MSM program was his first choice for her (way back when we were making her list of schools), based on the school’s reputation, the curriculum, and what he knows of the faculty. He has some teachers that also teach at MSM, and his private voice teacher went to MSM himself and spoke highly of the program.
He’s also heard a lot of very positive buzz about the new program and its faculty from teachers and coaches - he’s hearing that it’s expected to be “stellar” - in fact he just text me from the MSM bookstore lol! He stopped by to pick up some t-shirts and stuff to bring home to his sister (we live in Georgia). He said that the girl that rang him up is a classical voice major and she was telling him how excited everyone is for the new program and how much the school is investing in it. We are very excited!!!
@jbrideau That sounds great…thank you for the post! I’m glad to hear that the classical students are excited for the new program too.
Has anyone committed to MSM? Our daughter has!
Most of the people I know who were accepted are going elsewhere, but do have one friend whose daughter has committed.
