will bryn mawr be full of teachers like these?

i have a friend who’s going here and she says the type of girls here aren’t the annoying, clothes obsessed type and it’s great to be around them. I’ve also heard (please don’t kill the messenger) that bryn mawr girls are bi and large. I don’t have any problems with other people’s orientation, but i am heterosexual myself and was wondering if this reputation was true and how it might affect such bonding experiences as talking about one’s romantic encounters with roommates and such.

also have any congresswomen of any sort come from bm? i 've heard women’s colleges are great for leadership.

is it close enough to a train that you don’t need a car to get there

thanx

hey,

i don't know about the international studies or any congresswomen that may have graduated from bryn mawr, but i can tell you the gay thing kinda worried me about going to bryn mawr, and it's not any kind of problem at all. i was worried talking about boys and stuff would be awkward, but it's really not. i think most of the girls at bryn mawr are straight, and for the girls that are bi/gay, they're mawrtyrs so they're all amazing and fun and you can gossip with them. it's not awkward...and if you can't talk to a roomie about something because you guys are different, you'll be able to find a zillion other people to talk about/scout out boys with- since there aren't boys at bryn mawr, it's a big topic of talk :) and train-wise, there's a train station rreeallly close that you can walk to in 5 minutes and it can take you to philly and then you can amtrak it...i'm from new york, and it's super easy to get home... the other majors you asked about i don't know much about either, but i definitely have had some professors that were amazing for guidance and stopped and asked if everything was okay, and i've talked to them a bunch, so they're definitely here! good luck!

thanks a lot-it's goo to hear from someone who knows

"bi and large"

LOLOLOLOL...
are you asking if, by and large, bryn mawr women are "bi and large"?

umm soo i think uve got a really good shot w/ur gpa and everything. i think bryn mawr tries to pick girls that they think would fit into the school, besides just having a good academic record and extracurriculars, so go for an interview if you can. im actually transferring out of bryn mawr after this year (im a freshman) because i didnt think i fit in....im more of the type thats clothes obsessed and annoying haha, so bryn mawr wasnt exactly what i was looking for. however, it was a really hard decision to transfer, and im still not completely sure that i made the right decision.

first of all, bryn mawr's professors (or at least the ones ive had) are amazing. i loved almost every teacher i had this year. they were more dedicated than many of my past teachers, which is saying a lot because i came from private schools where teachers were very good. i didnt have a chance to take any international relations classes or stuff related to that (im a math/chinese major) but ive heard they're challenging, but good. the teachers i had i grew very close to, and i really regret leaving them next year because i wont be able to take any classes with them again in the future.

bryn mawr's reputation is a lot better than the average person thinks. though most people have no idea where or what bryn mawr is, ive found after talking to alumni that bryn mawr really gives you an edge with grad schools and many employeers. not only is it a seven sister school, but the work load is tough here and getting a good grade means a lot. also, bryn mawr has some of the highest percentages of grads that end up getting phds or go to med school, law school, etc than most of the lacs. its very well respected.

sexual orientation isnt a big deal here. yeah, theres a mix of everything, but in general you dont notice and i felt the majority of girls/women were heterosexual. dont let that be a reason to not come here. its an amazing school.
