My daughter auditioned for the BA program 3/15.

I am sort of confused, though, because I actually don’t have a good handle on whether this an auditioned BA, or if she was just auditioning for the BA merit award scholarship (most of her auditions at other schools have been scholarship auditions only - not departmental acceptances).

We have yet to hear any outcomes from this audition, nor have we received financial aid award letter.

Can anyone speak to any of this?

We are cautiously optimistic, but know anything can happen.

From my knowledge this program is a BFA MT program and the audition would have been for admittance into the program. You could call or email Kirsten to find out when they will release the results. We just visited there this past Monday and Tuesday and another of our students is going to visit on Monday. We loved our time there!

Thank you, NAtlanticStudio - I need to read further. Are you a studio teacher accompanying students in their visits? and you also have a child of your own looking at schools? if so, very cool.

Sounds like you got to spend a good amount of time in the dept - wish we had as well.

We are looking at all LACs besides ONU, so the atmosphere was decidedly different (not bad, just different).

What we loved about ONU: faculty, students we met, housing, and new collaborative opportunities opening up in the dept. I also loved the idea of the “Theatre as a Business” class, and the support given to the theatre dept by other departments (in the cases of double majors).

I went and did more research on the Theatre BA, and it now makes more sense. My daughter’s audition was strictly for a talent award (acting/directing) and she was separated by the MTs on the day of her audition so that makes sense. What I don’t know is whether she is. “automatically” in the program by virtue of her acceptance. That hasn’t been made clear, so she needs to be finding out.

I am actually both My daughter is a senior this year but I also run a Performing Arts Conservatory (very small) and have been walking through the process with our seniors. Between the nighttime program and the daytime program we have 18 seniors this year.

We (daughter and I) did spend a very long time in the program and loved it greatly. It is very warm and they seem to really care about their seniors. I did not get much time in the acting department itself, however, one of our other students took an acting class and really enjoyed it.

I did not know about the BA in Theatre, as most of our students are MT perspectives. I wish you the best with your decision. I hope you guys find out about her status sonn!!

Just talked with Marsha McMunn and she was able to confirm that: a) my D is definitely accepted to BA Theatre Dept and b) she received talent award from her audition and that letter of full offer is in the mail.

We are looking forward to its arrival - excited :-)!

CONGRATS @chaptertwo!!!
