March 2012 SAT I Critical Reading Thread

It wasn’t analogous. It was anomalous.

I know this was sort of answered through the SC, but what were the actual passages from the experimental section?

ok good. thanks.

coolazn1995:

It was anomalous, and it was about dinosaurs (I think).

@forsworn99
I don’t know if I should be wierded out or take that as a compliment…
hahaha

What was the answer to the second question from the passage about fastasy movies vs. science tech movies? I put the people had “unrealistic expectations”

im think sinister’s right, because remember the cabinet is mahogany so “dark” may simply refer to the color and not to wickedness/sinister

hii, just adding my answer to the discussion: i put sinister, too.

also, anyone remember the answer to this?
does anyone know exactly how the question went for the undertaking and qualification one for the electoral college one?

Was the Don Quixote passage already discussed? Was this experimental?

@AnonymousA

its experimental

i put “unrealistic expectations” for the sci-fi movie one. although i was deciding between that and another one about people worrying about the future or something? anyone else?

Damn… If only the electoral college one was experimental.
sigh

@yetanotherperson
I also put “unrealistic expectations.” I didn’t think that it made a whole lot of sense, but the other answers were even worse.

@yetanotherperson
I think that is right

PS:

Does anyone remember the Vocab questions that was about phobias.

illuminated…sequence
or
precipitate…something

Oh, anyone know when the scores come out?!?!?!?!

@yeta: I put “unrealistic expectations” as well. I think the question referred to the fact that science promised “a utopian vision that didn’t come to pass” or something similar so people turned towards fantasy instead.

Can someone tell me the full question for the qualification, argue against change, question? I only remember the question vaguely…

@drac: precipitate and confluence was the answer I think.

precipitate = (2nd def) A product resulting from a process, event, or course of action. confluence

confluence = (1st def) a merging or flowing together

my view on sinister

The chest was so vital because it had all her ancestors belongings which enabled her to connect to the past while in this identity crisis, and because of its enormous importance, it is imposing and the tiger claws add to the effect. Since this chest is of such vital importance it would also be familiar to her.

lol take it far what you want but sinister is really winning this battle right now.

btw do any of you guys remember getting like 3 or 4 straight A’s on the electorate passage?

the scores come out in 19 days…march 29…on my birthday.

Does anyone remember the Vocab questions that was about phobias.

illuminated…sequence
or
precipitate…something
