March 2012 SAT I Critical Reading Thread

@isabel the only other viable option was “unimaginative assumptions.”

can someone tell the question for the precipitate, confluence and the other answers for the question?

and anyone know the answer for the SC about the drastic and quick drop in the senators opinion polls? or was that my experimental?

@nikhil is that the polar one.

@dreamer: it was something about phobia.
It is not precipitated by one single event, but a confluence of stuff.
something like that

@monepo no not the polar one. guess it might have been my exp.

just checkinng…
for the space passage , the one about moving as one unit, is it saying that the universe is moving apart more slowly or something

The answer was that the relative distance between planets would remain the same, because the galaxy itself isn’t expanding.

ok thanks! do you remember the other answer choices?

@monepo: do you remember any other answer choices

@dreamer: sorry i dont

@isabel Ahh sorry I don’t! I’m really bad at remembering other answer choices, I have no idea how people do it so well.

hahah alright

Does anyone remember getting an answer like “delineate workable alternatives/solutions” for the electoral college one? Why do I feel like that might have been grouped with the “rigorously analyze the flaws of other solutions,” because if so I feel like both answers have merit.

Yes, that’s what I remember putting. I think it works better.

Does anyone remember the choices for the sentence completion with the answer choice as jovial? Or does anyone remember what section it was in? I honestly don’t recall that question

you guys i put that the chinese girl was struck by yu-i’s language. it said she liked her appearance, but she wasn’t surprised by it. However, later in the passage, after the cooking part, it said that Yu-i talked to the girl like none of her other relatives, so her language struck her. Idk though because appearance is also possible. I changed my answer from appearance so…haha

Jovial was about the worker who was so _____ that it spread like a contagion (positive connotation context clues around it)

what was the “rigorously analyze the flaws of other solutions,” question asking for again?

Does the SAT scoring machine just pick up the darkest bubble?

@dcsnow

I was going for language too, but then I realized that the girl was only struck by her aunt’s language when the aunt came over to make zongzi. The FIRST time she met her aunt (which is what the question was asking), she was struck by her choice of clothing and her appearance of calm. This is gonna sound kinda weird, but the paragraph explaining their first encounter was on the 1st column of the passage. The language part with the zonzi was on the 2nd column. But the first time they met it was definitely appearance.
