March Madness - Hows Your Bracket?

Have to post this now while I can still say I’m tied for the lead in the family bracket of 12 people!

Do you have a bracket? Are there prizes? :moneybag: or just the thrill of possibly winning?

All things March Madness here. :basketball:

Perfect for the next 5.2 seconds.

My bracket was busted from the get-go, and I just picked up my second loss. It’s all about bragging rights on the couch, no prizes other than the glory.

My bracket is good so far.

We do a king of the mountain with the tournament. Different levels of basketball knowledge/following in the family. So regular brackets weren’t much fun.

Rules are simple:

  1. Everyone randomly assigned teams
  2. If favored team wins and covers the spread, whoever had the winning team keeps them into next round
  3. If favored team wins but does not cover the spread or its a push, person who had the underdog “steals” the winner and takes them into the next round
  4. If underdog wins, person that had that team keeps them into next round.

Third or fourth year we have done this. Makes it interesting because your team could win but not by enough points. So teams change hands a lot.

At one point my daughter picked teams by school color or mascot. I would try to find a bracket that had those included. For others in the family it was more just a random pick or just by seed. This is random too.

Iowa lost in the first round - means my husband is cranky but we can go out to dinner this weekend.

Woah…The Kentucky loss destroyed a lot of brackets.

I picked the Kentucky all the way😭

My son has a project due tomorrow and all his partners have collapsed in despair over the Ky loss.

But think of all the St Peter’s students trying to get homework done tonight. All 2300 of them.

My husband is giggling with glee over UK’s loss — one of his favorite teams to hate, along with Duke. Go Heels!! :footprints::blue_heart::ram:

we have two kids on the east coast; we are midwest.
it’s funny how each of our brackets favor the schools we are familiar the most with!

So first of all, the Illini game was crazy! I’m an Illini and I’m glad they won, but I feel for Chattanooga. Chattanooga played a great game and we were terrible!

The Illini somehow won even though they only had the lead for 25 seconds(!) out of a 40 minute game!! Insane.

Second, I read there are no perfect brackets after Iowa State beat LSU.

I am in an 8 person family pool, currently in 3rd place (23 of 32 correct after the first round). We chat some during and between games via email, so it is fun. 2 of the 4 teams with any family connection are already out.

Both those teams sucked! Sorry, but it wasn’t just the Illini, Chatt sucked too.

Now, the Davidson vs Michigan State game was great. Both those teams deserved the win, but unfortunately only one gets it. Davidson played a great game, though.

Gonna be a tough matchup for our Tar Heels today against Baylor, but all appendages crossed here. :crossed_fingers:

I’ve known that guy his entire life, his older brother is one of my son’s best friend. I used to sit with his mom at our son’s travel basketball games up until 8th grade, she was a nervous wreck (youngest sons). I can’t imagine her that night!

I imagine you and your many crossed appendages are recovering from that super stressful game. Survived and advanced.

For sure!! That one was crazy! Whew!!

I think I gave any team I picked the kiss of death. I’ve done terribly in our office pool. But it’s all in good fun. I say they should give me $1 for being the biggest loser :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
