marching band auditions

Hey, so I wanted to audition for the color guard and I understand you can send in a tape but I'm not that type. I think doing it in person is much better plus that way they get to see your recoveries ANYWAY So I want to do my audition in person. Are we supposed to call or email them? Because the site doesn't give any information about signing up for auditions and I would assume it's not so disorganized that it's a show up the day of and audition.

Thanks!
Dee

you're right: it's definitely not a "show up the day of and audition" xD
honestly, an in-person audition isn't going to help you. if you can spin a flag semi-decently, then you'll get in. tape or no. so IMO it's not worth the extra expense (unless you live close by to UCLA, unlike me)
that said, if you want to do it in person, go here http://www.uclaband.com/join/audition.php
and call the number listed. if that fails you can send a letter. i'm not sure how often people are in the band office over the summer, so i'd say you should contact them before mid-june.
good luck and i hope to see you next year! :D

Thanks, maybe I'll just send in a video then. It wouldn't be hard to get down there but it'd be easier to send in a video. Is it that easy to get in because my guard has been rocky ever since my director fired our coach for unknown reasons (she got our guard from placing last to placing first) and since then we haven't had a single toss in our show except for our sabre line last year which the work was secretly written by the ex-coach behind our director's back.

I'm not in flag, but I'm pretty sure it's not too difficult to get in. It seems like they always have a shortage of flags... whenever woodwinds don't make it into the band with whatever instrument they auditioned for, the director would offer them a flag position.
