marine biology

Any thoughts on the best college for marine biology?

How about the best place to spend a semester or year abroad for marine biology?

The University of Miami has a great marine science program.

University of Hawaii at Manoa.

UNC Wilmington has a great program.

For lesser programs but more selective schools, consider Brown, Duke, Stanford, and the UCs.

Many schools offer a program with Woods Hole, Mass., where a lot of marine research takes place.

Thanks for the responses, I'll look them all up. My son is a little worried that the bioengineering major he chose is more engineering than anything. I'm trying to see what's out there as far as giving him the opportunity to go in a different direction maybe for a semester or summer.

Well, I feel 100% better after checking out some of these places and I know my son will too. Sometimes it seems like you choose a major and then you're on this track and not sure it's going where you want to go.
I found this link, I think I got there from the Woods Hole site but I'm not sure. It has a lot of good info geared toward all ages.

If you're willing to come to Canada, University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC is one of the best schools in Canada. I know that they do have a marine biology program; however, I'm not sure how it ranks against other programs.
