Mariners Go 2-1 At Princeton Quad Meet</p>
<p>December 13, 2008 </p>
<p>The #12 ranked U.S. Merchant Marine Academy wrestling team defeated Division I opponents Princeton, 24-18 and Delaware State, 36-18 but fell to Binghamton, 45-3 on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Erik Schott led the Mariners, going 3-0 for the day.</p>
<p>Schott won his first match of the day by defeating Travis Erdman of Princeton in double overtime, 6-3. He recorded the only victory against Binghamton by beating Anthony Espesito in double overtime, 4-3. Schott won his match against Delaware State by forfeit. Jordan Alfaro at the 125-pound weight was victorious in two of his three matches on the day. He defeated Robert Benitez of Princeton by a 6-0 decision and pinned Tad Bromall of Delaware State in 2:18. #9 James Beshada also won two matches for the Mariners. Beshada pinned Daniel Kolodzik of Princeton in 4:37 and also pinned Chris Dimattia of Delaware State in 23 seconds.</p>
<h1>5 Dan Twito beat Dan Scotton of Princeton by an 8-7 decision and also won by forfeit in the Delaware State match. Vincent Renaut went 2-1 on the day, defeating Andy Lowe by decision, 11-6 and also won by a forfeit in the Delaware State match.</h1>
<p>The wrestling team returns to action on Wednesday, December 17th when the club hosts NASSAU Community College. The matches start at 7:00 pm</p>
