Curious as to which school you think has the better reputation for business programs?

Visit both Seton Hall is in a slum and you will wind up at Marist or another institution.

Wow…the question asked was business reputation, not the location. I have no love for Seton Hall, but some would argue Poughkepsie is not a great college town. There are many great schools that because of when they were founded, are not in great neighborhoods. Would you have turned down UPenn or Temple (Bad parts of Philly), Columbia (Harlem), UChicago (east side rough), NYU (crazy east village), Fordham (Bronx) or many other schools that are ranked higher than either Marist or Seton Hall, so I don’t get the hate, bonee26?

As to the actual question, I think both programs are comparable, but while neither are ranked by USN&WR, Business Week or Forbes, Seton Hall’s school is listed in the Princeton top 295 business schools, so pick the school you like best and visit both.

The hate is not for Seton Hall, the hate is for South Orange NJ. I chose Marist over Seton Hall 30 years ago with the main reason being location. I have also spent the last 25 years in policing on the state and federal level and believe me So Orange NJ has not changed since 1970. The other location mentioned above NYC and Philly in particular are Disneyland compared So Orange

OK, so for you bonee, Marist was the best choice and a better area, I get that. Yet somehow, thousands of kids go to and graduate from Seton Hall every year without a number of them getting killed, robbed, raped or maimed… so for them, Seton Hall was about the education and not the neighborhood. If bad neighborhoods were all that mattered in selecting a school, some of the best schools in the country would have to close their doors. <:^{

Visit the schools, check out the neighborhoods, look at the business programs and make a decision that is best for you taking in all the factors that are important.

Marist has a great business program. They have been awarded time and time again with awards (you can call admission and ask for more info if you like). One award we have received is only given to the top 5% business schools in the country. Here at Marist it is all about hands on experiences so right away in your first business class you are going to be working on a business plan with a company in the Poughkeepsie area! This project leads into a competition where three student groups will be chosen to present in front of the company. Marist is also top ten safest college in the country! I agree with the comment above me, you need to check out the school and see what feels like a fit for you!
