marketing internship for a polisci major?

Hi all. I am a current junior with a super busy summer. I am currently doing one summer program at USC this summer and am in the process of being admitted to another one. Both are centered towards poli-sci, my intended major when i apply to college. My academic counselor at school approached me with a marketing internship done online. I’ve been interested in marketing and the fact that i don’t have to go away over the summer makes it even more enticing. However, will colleges look at this as me just adding stuff to my college apps? I have a broad range of EC’s, but I really do love everything that i’ve been involved in. I don’t want this little interest to hinder me.

Taking on an additional interest, if you currently have the right balance, will not hurt. But it’s not all about “really loving.” Some things are for the experience or other good reasons.

“marketing” internship – what does that mean? Selling magazines online? Just be wary. There’s not much that HS age students can do in real marketing world. However, many are duped into being cheap salespeople for some for-profit venture.

How about simply getting a job? There, you’ll witness real decisions that business owners are forced to make. Congrats on the summer programs, though.
