I seem to remember that students are on the admissions committee and help choose the incoming class. I also know that it's a "not for everybody" school with high transfer in/ transfer out rates.

Other than that, though, I don't know much.

I know somebody that goes there and loves it. It's also very writing intensive from what I hear. It is a "not for everybody" school as the previous poster stated... but for those that want it, they looove it. I considered it for a short period of time but it didn't quite have what I wanted. I still consider it a fabulous school.

From what I have heard from friends who go there it has a very intellectual atmosphere, with people much more interested in their work than in partying or other distractions. I think they make decisions through town meeting, which sounds kind of cool. The only negative thing I have heard is in regards to it's small size. There is a girl who transferred here (Bennington) from Marlboro because she was a French major and the one French professor left and they had not replaced him/her as of this Fall. I can certainly vouch for the beauty of Vermont, and it seems isolated, but really there are several good sized towns with movies, restaurants, museums, etc. not very far away

A close high school friend attended. She benefitted from her education, but it did turn into a kind of cult. Not necessarily anything wrong with that, but you have to drink the coolade.
